Do you have what it takes to be Shocking?

WE’RE HIRING

We’re looking for several contract and permanent employees! You can find most of our team at our downtown office (conveniently located above The Walrus and across from The Rio) from dawn ’til dusk (or, at least, dawn until happy hour) most days, but we’re much more focused on results than clock punching and the hours and work location are flexible. The compensation is competitive and evaluated on an individual basis, and we strive to create as positive and productive of a work environment as possible. Do you have what it takes to be Shocking? If so, drop us a line at info@shockingcreations.com.

All candidates are evaluated on 3 factors – personality, work ethic, and talent. If you’re fun, passionate about what you do, and pretty darn good at it – we want to talk to you!

Description

MUST BE LOCAL TO BOULDER/DENVER METRO

To sum it up as directly as possible – this person will be responsible for interpreting a client’s vision and goals, translating those into wireframes, then producing full mockups of those pages to hand over to the dev team.

Incredibly strong UI/UX skills and a mastery of Illustrator and Photoshop are absolute musts. You will be the lead UI/UX designer and will be providing (at a minimum) input on strategy with all Shocking Creation’s projects.

It’s crucial that this person be a strong team player who enjoys collaborating with a team as well as handling suggestions and critiques from clients.

While producing wireframes and full page mockups will cover ~80% of this person’s responsibilities, there will also be opportunity to produce brand identity guides, logos, infographics, and other creative assets for Shocking Creations and our clients.

The position is contract-hire, and work while on contract will be on a project to project basis. That said, the existing design/dev team has all been full time for 6+ months (when we find someone we like, there’s no shortage of work). Beyond the technical skills listed to the right, we’re looking for someone who’s articulate, personable, humble, enjoys teaching others, and takes a ‘get shit done’ approach to problem solving. While there are no fixed hours required, you will be asked to be present for occasional stand-ups to run through project statuses and encouraged to work from the office with us as often as possible – even if it’s time spent working on other freelance projects.

If this sounds like you, send your resume and portfolio over to info@shockingcreations.com.

Technical Skills & Experience (required)

  • Mastery of Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Phenomenal UI/UX skills
  • Strong portfolio of websites you’ve designed, as well as references for those sites
  • Great communication

Technical Skills & Experience (Plus)

  • WordPress development experience (theme based or other)
  • HTML/CSS knowledge
  • Advanced experience with other Adobe programs (InDesign, After Effects, Bridge, etc.)
